Let me start out by saying that Jeremy and Jessica were married 3 weeks ago. I realized that I never posted their engagement pictures on my blog......so I wanted to get them posted before I post their wedding images. So Jeremy and Jessica, here you go!

Jeremy and Jessica are such a fun FUN couple......We went for an outdoor woodsy shoot, and by golly did we get it! This last fall must have been the fall for STICKERS!!!!!! Amidst having to deal with all of them, we had a blast! I love spending time with the two of them because they are obviously in love, and they never stop having fun. They're so laid back which I just absolutely love.....

Jeremy and Jessica, I know you will be extremely happy. I know you are back from Italy for your honeymoon, and you had a gorgeous wedding......

They're getting married!!!! I am so excited to show you Elisa & Brian's engagement pictures!!! They are one busy couple. Elisa just finished up her clinicals to finish her nursing degree at East Central. Congrats Elisa, future RN!!!! Brian is finishing up his residency in Tulsa to be a doctor! We had to squeeze in their engagement pictures really close to the wedding because of their schedule, but I just can't wait for bridals and then their wedding.

They're such a romantic couple. When Brian proposed to Elisa, Elisa's two children who are very much involved in the wedding, helped him propose to her. It was a family affair. I also did a family session with all of them. Those pictures are still to come....

I recently helped Pastor of Coffee Creek Church with a project he had envisioned. He wanted to have some great marketing products, but he didn't want stock photos of just random people. I was honored to help Clark make his marketing ideas come to light using his own church family. This is just one of the families part of the Pioneer project, and there are more to come.

If you are ever in Edmond, Coffee Creek Church is a very modern church that has many programs. They have a terrific kids program, and this church is full of young, great families. Here is a link to their site if you're interested.

I had the pleasure of meeting David Lane when he was just one week old. He was so precious, and he really was a trooper. I got a "wink" out of him towards the end. He couldn't make up his mind on whether he wanted to sleep or wake up.......

Danielle and Tim are such a sweet sweet couple. I met them when they asked me to photograph their wedding.....to be able to follow this terrific family from marriage to first baby is just amazing. I've been able to watch them grow as a family, and I absolutely love it. They are WONDERFUL!

Thank you for bringing Lane to me for his newborn pictures. He is beautiful! You two did a terrific job!

Arnold Generational Family....

The Arnold's!!!!

This is such an amazing family! I've really enjoyed getting to know them these last few years. They are just so kind and genuine. I truly feel like part of the Arnold family when I am with them.

This family began in Allen, OK, but they have since grown and now come from many places. We met this very very cold day in Oklahoma City. They really were troopers because it was freezing this day, but we honestly had so much fun. The running around kept us laughing and warm.

There are just too many pictures to pick from. I tried to keep it to a minimum, but I had to use more than I normally do. I wanted to include them all. They are terrific, and I can never wait to see them everytime.

Thank you Arnolds!!!! I truly appreciate you, and I absolutely love being a part of your family!!!!!

Jacklyn.......

I am in a black and white mood today!!!! I absolutely love black and white with Jacklyn because she soooo full of expression and personality. Jacklyn loves to play and run around....without being told what to do, and I absolutely LOVE this!!!! It makes for some of the most darling photographs that her parents and family can cherish for forever!!! Poor Jacklyn did get her first bee sting on this shoot, so we did have to cut it short. She was definitely a trooper.

Memories are meant to be captured and treasured forever. Pictures are the perfect way to always have them. One of the pictures of Jacklyn where she is looking at a picture is of her late grandpa. Jacklyn's parents will always make sure that she knows who her family is, whether they're still with us or not.

Baby Avyn!

I can't believe it's been almost a year since Avyn was born! She is just growing in personality every time I see her again. We had fun on her first photo shoot last year, but this year was a blast. I also love Avyn's family. It's a family affair when Avyn gets her portraits done, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I think next time I'll hire a videographer to video this fantastic family during her session! They are VERY entertaining!

I absolutely loved working with the Teel family. Lane & Levi were just so sweet, and I might add that they're just so handsome. Good luck Mom and Dad fighting off the girls! This session was sooo exciting because the Minshull's had just found out they were expecting. Therefore, we had to take a picture to help them announce this great news to their friends and family. They did an excellent job on the posters, and I know that Dayona will be a great big sister.

Aren't these kids gorgeous!!!!!! I loved meeting Paul, Mandy, Paige & Connor Hesse. It was truly a great shoot with this family. They were easy going, and we found a crab apple tree that the kids just absolutely adored.

We had so much fun shooting this family's pictures!!!! This is my blonde family!!!!! They were all such a pleasure to work with, and Ethan (the baby) really had a mind of his own. I just followed him on his adventurous trek through the park. He's super cute. Zac (oldest boy) was so mature and sweet. I was just amazed at how grown up he was. This family is AMAZING! I don't have any other words to describe them. The kids were so sweet and very well behaved. They were just excited to get their pictures taken. Turns out, I have a connection to this family. I met them in Okc, but upon proofing their pictures, I was informed about who their family was here in Ada. It's so nice to meet people you have heard about.

I look forward to many more sessions with this family. Just really great all around. Maggie and Spencer--two oldest kids--just played and played and played. Evan, the baby never stopped smiling. Matthew and Kelly were just so laid back and very easy to work with. This made for one really awesome session.

I absolutely LOVE weddings! I love everything about the entire day, and the fun events leading up to it. This day was particularly special for two reasons....Larry and Mellisa are really good friends of mine, and I just couldn't wait for them to say I do.....second reason--I was able to shoot with Laura Tusek! It was just a terrific day all around.

There is not a picture that I could have taken where Mellisa wouldn't have been beautiful. She really made my job easy. I hope you enjoy looking at a few of their pictures from that special day. It just brings a smile to my face to see two people who love each other so much.

Brad, Nikki & Carly Lemon

Carly Lemons had me laughing. She did not want to have her picture taken. She wanted a milk shake!!!! Granted, she came around, and we had a blast. It's good to be reminded every now and then how intimidating my camera and lens are, especially when I'm a total stranger to kids.

The Lemon's family pictures are the perfect example of the style that I absolutely love to shoot, True Life. You'll hear it phrased documentary, Lifestyle, True Life.....it's my favorite because it's your family just as they are. I don't focus on making sure that everybody is looking at me just perfect for every shot. Sometimes people can get frustrated when their kids aren't in the mood to have their picture taken, but some of my favorite pictures come from shoots like that.

Carly was a doll, and she really kept me laughing. Brad and Nikki couldn't have been sweeter. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the Lemons Family, and I will definitely never forget Carly. At the end of the shoot, I thanked Carly for playing with me. Carly's response....."Where's my milk shake!?"

Tyler and Oliver Cantrell.....

If I had to describe Oliver and Tyler with one word......FUN!!!!! We had a blast just playing around. It's photo shoots like this one that keep me wanting more! Oliver took a little while to open up to me, but the shot of him peeking at me through his eyes, to me, is priceless. Tyler is by no means shy and afraid of my camera!!!! We really had fun at this shoot.

There are few words to say about gorgeous precious Avyn! She is such a sweet little girl. I can't wait until she starts running around. Avyn and Andrea received a gift certificate to Lanae Photography, and I'm so excited that they did. The Arnold's.....

This gorgeous family has been my client from day one!!!! I have absolutely enjoyed watching Jack grow up and change. Ashley is one of my best friends from high school, and she married Noel, whom I knew in high school as well. One aspect that I love about my job is meeting new people through my photography, but I am also so excited when I get to spend quality time with my close friends while capturing their special moments with their family. It's important.

My photography style isn't always "perfect", but I would pass up what most would consider the best shot for one that is capturing a special moment. It's so much more important, and it's so much more like real life. Jack gives me plenty of moments. He has become my buddy, and he loves to give me high five. Now if I could only make it to where he will share his goldfish with me........

Nick and Lana...Always and Forever!

Nick and Lana live in China. I corresponded with Lana through phone or email, and the time difference was problematic at times. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time getting to know each other before we ever met. Upon finally meeting Lana, I was just struck by how calm and put together she was. I'm not sure how I would handle planning an entire wedding from so far away. She handled all last minute glitches with ease and finesse!!!! I really loved getting to know her.

Their wedding was the first one to be held at the new First Baptist Falls Creek cabin, and it was was absolutely gorgeous! The scenery left me awestruck, and I love how absolutely simple it is.

Nick and Lana are back in China! They are an absolutely amazing couple, and I love how easy going their relationship was. I wish them the best, and I can't wait for another United States visit so Lana and I can catch up in person.

Thank you Nick and Lana for allowing me to share this day with you and your family. I look forward to seeing you again, and I wish you the best in your long future together!

A Beautiful Mommy.....

I had the hardest time trying to decide which images of Brooke to display. We had a terrific shoot on a beautiful day. She is just gorgeous, and I'm absolutely excited that I got to shoot her maternity pics. I know she will be a terrific Mommy, and I can't wait to see Baby Boy. I took pictures of Brooke when she was in high school for her many pageants and portfolio. I just can't believe how time flies and how much she has grown up. It's Been A Long Time.......

This year has been the busiest so far! I fully admit I am glad to have met so many people through photography, and I've been thrilled to be an ongoing part of their life.

Lanae Photography will soon be undergoing a few cosmetic changes!!! We will update our website and launch our complete wedding site. We just can't wait for this, and we are flourishing with new ideas.

I sometimes get to take pictures of my family, and it's so fun getting to see people I love through the camera lens. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law let me take some family pictures of them with their sweet baby girl Jacklyn.

Senior pictures are such a fun way to document all the youth and excitement right before you begin your "real" life. Flor and I got to spend some time together trying to create some really fabulous and beautiful pictures that will always remind her of high school.

Flor is a senior at Byng High School, and she's headed to East Central in the fall. She's also Rotary's December Student of the Month!

Flor was super fun to work with. She was great and easy-going, and I had a great time taking pictures of her.

I've had so much fun taking pictures of this family! We started before Jack even made his grand debut, and it's a blast to get to see Jack change and grow in just a matter of months. And it doesn't hurt that Jack is super adorable and so easy to photograph!

Aren't they the cutest family? Ashley always makes sure Jack dresses better than any other kid, and apparently one of his daycare workers wishes her boyfriend dressed as well as Jack!

This girl is super special. You can see it in her eyes; she's definitely the most mature 8-year-old I've ever known.

SUCH a sweetheart!

I especially love this picture, because it reminds me that she is still so small. She's not grown up yet, and hopefully adulthood won't come too soon! And no matter how "mature" and "grown up" we are now, it's still so important to tap into that child inside us who just wants to get the funny feeling in our tummy from swinging too high.

They're getting married!!! Kasey and Chuck, who might just be the most fun couple ever, also happen to take great photographs! I don't think I stopped laughing one time while I was taking their pictures. I absolutely cannot wait to spend more time with them at their wedding.

Chuck proposed to Kasey in this car (Aw, how sweet!), so we really wanted to get a special engagement picture including this car. This is definitely one of my favorites pictures. It's so great when you can incorporate special things into special photos!

It is so sweet to get to take a newborn baby's pictures. They grow and change so very quickly, and it's fun to be able to chronicle each stage with photographs. Sometimes I get to take pictures of my family and close friends. So when one of my best friends came home for a visit, she wanted to me take some family pictures.

We went to this little park downtown, and the setting was perfect. While I took pictures of one of the kids, the others could run around and play.

I had never seen Molly in anything but jeans and a tee shirt until she came to the photo shoot. I was just in awe of how well she took to the camera! Every pose worked for her.

I just realized I never posted these pictures, and I totally wanted to show them off. We took these right after Thanksgiving for their Christmas card photos. (Notice Lilly in the Santa suit... So adorable!) I've shot this family several times, and it's always so adventurous and fun. It's just going to get more exciting as Lilly gets older!

This photo of Lilly and her dad is one of my favorites. I love how the sunlight is just peeking over her shoulder. This family always allows me to take more creative shots - which I love- and we always seem to like the same shots.

People find beauty in strange things. I know people who are able to go to dumpsters and find treasures. They just happen to see trash differently than the person who threw it away. I'm not one of those people.

A good friend of mine is doing her nursery with a little bit of zebra flair, so I had to create this piece for her. Isn't he so cute? And it is so different than all the normal nursery art that you will find. I shot it in a ttv style, through the viewfinder. I just love how it turned out. I really enjoy taking pictures of people, but it's also so fun to capture an object in a new and interesting way.

In Your Own Space

I love taking pictures, and it is just another level of fun to take pictures of your own family and friends. I recently got the opportunity to capture my brother and his family, and we ended up shooting over three hours!

We went to their forty + acres of land, and it was just gorgeous. They have a little pond, and lots of rolling hills. I love the way the different textures of the landscape play out in the background.

The kids were great, and I think they had fun as well. I hope they enjoyed it, because we made a full evening of it! It's harder to get adults to be completely relaxed and natural, but kids take the best pictures by simply being themselves. This is why I enjoy so much taking pictures "in the moment." You just cannot get certain smiles in a studio!

These pictures are such a great example of how choosing your location can turn out really amazing. It just means more to you.

Yes, I have fallen behind on my blogging again. I wanted to make sure and get this sweetheart on here. She was a thinker....she didn't need to be the center of attention, and I honestly could have taken pictures of her all day. She was cool, calm and extremely collected. Noel and Ashley

Ashley and Noel are just a few months away from welcoming their first baby, Jack. They wanted some pictures to show Jack just how much he was anticipated, and I couldn't wait to help out.

We had been having some cold days, but the day we shot was absolutely gorgeous.

You can just tell how much they love each other and how much they are looking forward to welcoming little Jack.

The sunset and the lighting were just perfect to highlight this couple. You know I'm a big fan of unusual locations, and this bridge turned out to be the best back drop.

I know they can't wait until Jack is here, and I can't wait to take his newborn pictures!!! Thanks, Noel and Ash!

Little miss Lilli needed rock star first birthday pictures, so she of course came to me! (Isn't that the cutest theme for a little one-year-old birthday party?) And to make the whole picture experience even more fun, her nine-month-old cousin Trinity got in on the action.

I don't like to pose kids. It's so much fun to let them be themselves, and then you get the greatest natural pictures.

I recently had the opportunity to take some pictures of a big, crazy, happy family. It's always fun to create these memories, especially with the little ones. They grow up so fast!

One of my favorite things is to scout out and discover new and visually interesting places to take pictures. On this day, we were lucky enough to find this wonderful old barn that made a great setting. Although it was a little windy, we got some great shots.

Seriously, it's great fun for me to take pictures of kids. I love looking back at my old pictures of when I was a little girl, and it's exciting for me to know that these kids will probably be doing the same.

We headed over to some railroad tracks to get a big group shot. As long as, you know, you avoid the trains, you can use the rustic feel and the great outdoors to create a great atmosphere.

Trying to work.....

As I sit here trying to work on some baby pictures.....I have another baby who needs my love so desperately that he just will not leave me alone. Seeing as how I couldn't get any of the work done that I was hoping to at this point in time, I decided to make a piece of work with him.

Of course, none of you will see him as the baby that I do, but he's our 9 month old blob of sugar. He is the goofiest and sweetest baby we have.

So, here's a shot of him that I worked on since he wouldn't let me work on anything else. I guess I need to take a break and pay him some attention.

FINALLY!

Yes, it's here. After many, many months of editing this, changing that, designing this and creating that......it's finished. I've spent most of the morning trying to work out any kinks it may have. I think, *crossing fingers* that they are all out by now.

It's almost here! I have everything done except for one little task. It's not really a huge task, but it's a big deal for me. This will just sound so funny when I actually say it, but here goes.

My daunting task that just looms over me like an Oklahoma storm sneaking in during the month of May is......a picture of me. I need to post a self-portrait on my website in the about me section. Now, to you this may sound extremely odd since I'm a photographer, and I should have many pictures of myself. Well, I'm usually the one taking the picture.

I have the technology to take my own, but it's just so hard. I'm so picky when it comes to pictures. It takes me weeks sometimes to work on pictures for my clients. (My heaven sent customers who don't complain!) Quality takes time!!! :) I just don't ever take a picture that I am happy with.

So.......to make a long story short, my website is complete except for my self-portrait. I'll shout it to the world once that is complete. I can't wait for it to go live! I've worked for months on this project.

It's a beautiful Saturday morning......

Good Morning!

It's Saturday.....my husband is away on a camping trip. No husband. No kids. I couldn't even sleep in! I woke up thinking about photography today, which is very typical for me. I just can't turn my brain off sometimes. It just gets to going..........the life of being an artist!

I worked on a few photos from an outside wedding that I shot. This was a lovely couple. He was a ham for the camera, and she was really calm and relaxed. This couple followed all standard traditions....some I had never heard of, and supplied each other with gifts that are to bring the best of luck. Now, a lot of people say that ladybugs are good luck, and this wedding was full of them. Literally. There were ladybugs everywhere. At one point, the bride had them all in her gown. Of course, we had to take a few for this odd event!

I still have quite a ways to go on this wedding, but here's just a couple of shots that I've done so far. Enjoy!

Frisco.....Here I Come!

Here is one of my favorites! In case you don't know, Lanae Photography not only does portraiture photography, but we also have an online store to purchase Fine Art. There's never any rhyme or reason to our madness. We just take a few pictures of this, a few pictures of that, and voila! we're having a blast! This one was taken in Pauls Valley, OK at the retired train downtown. It's a nice area in an older part of town surrounded by a gazebo and brick streets. I love visiting and submerging myself into those older and historic areas. I love it!

What a Week!!!!

Wow!

This week has been tremendous! I have had 4 sessions, 1 wedding and experienced a history making election!!!! It really has been a great week, but it has been busy!

I'm in the midst of working on the wedding photos, but I wanted to share a few pictures from a recent session I had. It was a family session, but I just couldn't help snapping a few of this little cowboy. There wasn't a need for him to get into character or pose. Lane was great! I just followed him everywhere, and this shining personality just came out. I hope you enjoy them!

My website is actually finished, but I'm "learning" how to put the music on it!!!! Yes, I am sometimes, computer challenged!!!! I am not afraid to admit this, and I hope I can learn something new everyday!!! I'll let you know as soon as the new one goes live!

Life Has Slowed Down.......Temporarily

Wow! It has been such a busy week!!!!! Now, some of you may not be aware, but I do have a full-time job other than photography. I work for the Chickasaw Nation, like pretty much everybody else in Ada, OK. I have an online store for my artwork, I have my portrait photography and I'm also a co-sponsor for a new blog, http://www.how-tostudio.com/ .

My friend Stacy, who resides in Wisconsin, dreamt up this wonderful idea for this blog. It's informative and fun! I must admit, she's the brains and most of the muscle behind this shindig!!! I'm really great at moral support! GO STACY!!!! Go check out the blog if you get a chance. There's a new how-to posted every week, and postings throughout the week along the same topic of items you can buy or supplies to make them. Who knows, you might find yourself another hobby.

One of the photoshoots I had this weekend was with a senior. She's the cutest thing, and talk about photogenic. She was great to work with, and never questioned me when I put her in really odd positions for a picture. She definitely was a trooper. Here's a few pics to give you an idea:

Good evening OU fans and others!!!!

Before any of you get offended, I do not follow football at all. I follow, sometimes unwillingly, the man on the couch beside me wearing the OU shirt who spends a lot of time yelling at the tv. So, with football not being one of my forte's, I snagged my sister-in-law's laptop and decided to do something productive. I've never been a big fan of just sitting around not doing anything anyway. So, in other words, it's BLOG time!!!

Lanae Photography was featured today in the Photographer's of Etsy's Team Blog. I am a member of this wonderously talented group, and I consider it a very humbling honor to be included with the artists that are recognized as well.

2 Years in the Making.....

It's almost here. My long awaited website and blog are finally peeking their eyes around the corner...waiting for me to show them to the world.......

Two years ago this month, I ventured out on a dream that I had hoped would lead me here but never dreamed it would have been this much fun.

I've always yearned to "take pictures", but being a photographer never seemed to be what I was destined for. My parents never pushed for me to be a photographer. They pushed for a teacher. I mean, who could blame them. They work Monday-Friday, most holidays off, SUMMERS off, leaving school around 3:30......and they had time for my twin sister and me. That was the most important. They've always pushed for me to be a teacher, and I truly thank them for that. I think I would be great at it, and I may do that someday. For now, I'm loving this!!!!!!

I've never been the type of individual who could really focus on one thing for too long. I would get bored at my jobs. I would get bored with my clothes. I just got bored. I never really understood why that was, and to tell you the truth, I didn't think about it too much. I just took that for it was who I was, and I accepted it. Nothing wrong with that, right?

My husband, who I'm sure you will hear many mentions of during this blog, knew I had a passion for photography, and he bought me my first DSLR camera. My first reaction was we didn't need to be spending that kind of money right now, but the camera had hypnotized me. I soon forgot we were now more poor than before.

From day one, I started taking pictures of EVERYTHING! You name it, I took a picture of it. To make this novel of a story short, it evolved into Lanae Photography. It evolved into this business, which my husband refers to as a jobby (job/hobby) that I am never dreading doing everyday. I can't wait to get home to continue what project I had taken on the day before.

So.....hopefully within the next few weeks, http://www.lanaephotography.com/ will have it's re-birth. It will evolve into the future of Lanae Photography, and I truly hope that you are involved in it one way or another.
